The biggest brush fires were a seven-acre fire in the area of SW 147th Ave. and 194th St. and an eight-acre brush fire in the area of SW 142nd Ave. and 232nd St.

Fire crews temporarily blocked the road.

“We were just coming back from dropping off my cousins,” said Susanna. “We’d gone to the Keys for the day and I’m visiting from Ashville, NC, so we were just cutting back through here to get back on US1, which obviously isn’t going to work.”

There were three other reported fires, about one acre each, in the areas of SW 134th Ave and 222 St., SW 142nd Ave. and Quail Roost Dr., and SW 137th Ave and 168th St.

According to officials, no evacuations or injuries were reported.

Miami-Dade Police is looking into the cause of the fires.
